What is Transhumanism? Transhumanism is an ideology that advocates for the use of technology to overcome human limitations. This can include using medication to prevent illness, prosthetics to enhance mobility, cochlear implants to improve hearing, or even something as simple as using a phone to send messages. Essentially, any use of technology that expands human abilities can be considered a form of Transhumanism.

Why Transhumanism? Despite technology being used at almost every level of society to overcome various limitations, Transhumanism is needed due to its recognition of the inherent relationship between advancements in science/technology and improvements in human life. For instance, in certain regions of the world and during specific historical periods, the average life expectancy was around 30 years. Today, however, it has increased to approximately 77 years, largely due to technological progress.
Why the Politicalization of Transhumanism? Basic research, for example, is often federally funded through agencies like the National Institutes of Health. Their research has contributed to advancements like anti-AIDS drugs, antidepressants, and treatments that reduce scar tissue formation. The amount of funding allocated to things like basic research or any type of research is decided by the policies of the administration in power. The government and resources allocated have the potential to advance humanity into the future by investing resources/funding to increase the quality of life, lifespan of the population in New York, and tackle today’s issues like food insecurity, homelessness, a lack of healthcare, mental health crisis, etc. It is a matter of political will!
What are some political concerns? In a political context, the NYTP aims to gain political power and utilize the state's various mechanisms to enhance quality of life and lifespan for all New Yorkers. That means addressing current societal issues, including but not limited to homelessness, LGBTQ+ rights, inequality, lack of healthcare, poverty, racism, and immigration. In addition to issues revolving around driverless vehicles, AI, automation, data centers, public transportation, etc. All in an attempt to create a government and society, as far as New York goes, that centers human life/health while pushing the boundaries of what's possible. Thus making New York the most prosperous state in the United States. Let the state lead not just by example but by results! No issue that impacts quality of life or lifespan will be overlooked!
Why is Transhumanism Needed? Transhumanism is needed due to its recognition of the close relationship between advancements in science/technology and improvements in human life. This recognition allows Transhumanists to approach politics from a unique technological-centered perspective. One that is more equipt to face today's issues than their traditional political counterparts. Be it on issues such as artificial intelligence [AI], layoffs driven by different forms of automation, AI data centers, space exploration, autonomous [driverless] vehicles, rapid transit, vertical farming, healthcare, & renewable energy. While also prioritizing the bread and butter issue of day-to-day life, such as the cost of rent, utility costs, hunger, transportation issues, corruption, immigration issues, as well as LGBTQ+ issues.
What is the New York Transhumanist Party? The New York Transhumanist Party (NYTP) is the state-level extension of the U.S. Transhumanist Party into New York. Made with the intention of “Putting Science, Health, and Technology at the Forefront of Politics in New York”.

Are you Communists, Libertarians, Liberals, Conservatives, Socialists, etc? Despite some of the first Transhumanists being Communists, Socialists, and generally left-wing. The Transhumanists of today are more diverse, containing Liberals, Communists, Libertarians, Conservatives, Socialists, Progressives, “Upwingers”, etc. Transhumanism has developed to include individuals from most political backgrounds.
What’s the Membership of the NYTP like? The NYTP includes various political ideologies, such as Progressives, Communists, Anarchists, Libertarians, Cosmists, Socialists, Environmentalists, and Futurists. Almost anyone who supports our principles can join!
What are the three core ideals of the NYTP? [1] Significant life extension achieved through the progress of science and technology [2] A cultural, societal, and political atmosphere informed and animated by reason, science, and secular values [3] Efforts to use science, technology, and rational discourse to reduce and eliminate various existential risks to the human species
How can I join the New York Transhumanist Party? Go to the "Membership Form" page and fill out the form or go to the “About Us” page and scroll to the bottom. Click on the bar that says, “Join Us”. It’ll redirect to the U.S. Transhumanist Party “Membership” page, where a Membership Application form can be filled out right then and there. It will ask for various things such as an email, name, if you can vote in the US, if you agree with the USTP’s 3 core ideals, asks what state or nation you live in, and lastly a basic math question to ensure it is a human filling out the application.
If I am not eligible to vote in New York, can I still join the NYTP? Yes, of course, all those not eligible to vote in New York can still join.
If I do not live in New York, can I still join the New York Transhumanist Party? Yes! Even if one does not live in New York, they can join as an “Allied” member.
